As Director of Strategic Growth, Bill leads growth strategy, process, and implementation for the firm. Bill has over 25 years of executive experience in financial services. By focusing on client objectives, he has a proven record of successfully leading/coaching teams to achieve a great client experience. His background includes senior roles at large financial institutions and an investment management firm. Areas of expertise include investment management/advisory, practice management, financial planning, and banking for affluent individuals and families. Prior to joining Altair, Bill was Market Head of HSBC Private Banking for the Central United States and Managing Director for BMO Private Bank. He has completed Executive Education at The Wharton School, holds a MBA with distinction from DePaul University, and a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. Bill is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®). A native of the Chicago area, Bill lives in North Barrington, IL with his wife and children. He serves as non-profit board member for the Barrington Area Community Foundation (Chair of Donor Stewardship) and WINGS Program, Inc. (Treasurer, Chair of Finance and Investment committee).

While it requires patience and foresight, there are multiple benefits to diversifying family holdings beyond the core business. Doing so leaves the family less exposed to the volatility of any single entity or industry, decreases reliance on the operating company as a source for distributions and provides additional ways for family members to be engaged in shared ownership. In this session, we’ll share examples of families who have utilized an “enterprise” approach to create long-term wealth stability.
