Richard Seaman is chairman of Seaman Corporation, a Wooster, Ohio-based company that produces high-performance industrial fabrics. He served as the company’s CEO from 1976 to 2015 and grew the business from $2 million to $200 million in annual sales. He developed and implemented many successful business processes that contributed to Seaman Corporation’s profitable growth, including a robust strategic planning process; a management succession planning team that meets semiannually and aligns management development with strategic objectives; and a succession planning process that focuses on family stewardship. Seaman formerly served as a director of of FirstMerit bank, a leading regional institution in Northeast Ohio. He currently serves as a trustee of the College of Wooster and of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and is a trustee and chairman of the Morgan Foundation. He was appointed in 2012 as a Commissioner to Ohio’s Third Frontier program, a multimillion-dollar economic initiative. He received the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award for Northeast Ohio in 2015 and was appointed to the board of the Family Business Network-USA in 2017. He is the author of A Vibrant Vision: The Entrepreneurship of Multigenerational Family Business.
